Juliet Mitchell FBA is an author, psychoanalyst, literary critic, socialist feminist, and emeritus professor.
Her work has changed the landscape of both feminist thought and psychoanalytic theory, and has remained at the heart of critical thinking for over 50 years.
With translated editions worldwide, Juliet Mitchell’s books continue to shape our understanding of both feminism and psychoanalysis. Her groundbreaking titles, Psychoanalysis & Feminism and Woman’s Estate, have recently been reissued with new introductions by the author. Her other books include Mad Men and Medusas, Siblings: Sex and Violence, and Fratriarchy.
She is currently writing a psychoanalytic study of Louise Bourgeois.
Juliet Mitchell is Emeritus Professor at the Universities of Cambridge and London, and the Founder Director of the Centre for Gender Studies in the University of Cambridge. She is a Fellow of both the British Academy and the International Psychoanalytical Association, and an Honorary Fellow of the University of Metz-Lorraine (France).
